2008 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe Overview

Carroll Shelby, legendary racer and tuner lends his name and expertise to the Ford Shelby GT500 version of the iconic Mustang. This powerful coupe packs a 500-horsepower 5.4-liter V8 under its bulging hood. A heavy-duty, six-speed manual gearbox is the only transmission offered. The standard Mustang’s brakes and suspension have been customized to handle the extra power, and various exterior and interior additions differentiate it from the rest of the Mustang line. Limited amenities make sure that all that muscle is available for a relatively reasonable price.
The Ford Shelby GT500KR is further dressed up with a carbon composite hood, exclusive wheels, and unique striping.
The standard Mustang’s retro-flavored interior has been dressed up with light-faced gauges on the instrument panel, and the positions of the speedometer and tachometer have been swapped to afford enthusiastic motorists a better view of the rpms to help with shifting. Chrome accents have been replaced with brushed aluminum, and Ford Shelby GT500 logos abound. The car’s front power leather seats have deeper side bolsters to help keep the driver and passenger firmly in place while cornering at high speeds.
