New Ford Focus Coupe-Cabriolet

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Ford Motor Company showing the new Ford Focus Coupe-Cabriolet at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. The model will combine the hot-looking ‘kinetic’ Europe Focus lineup that already includes a three-door, four-door, five-door, wagon and the sporty ST model. We’re still looking forward to the RS model that will be launched in 2009.
The Ford Focus Coupe-Cabriolet is accessible in a range of Duratec gasoline and Duratorq diesel engines. The two Duratec engines include a 1.6L that produces 98hp and a 2.0L that produces 143hp. The 2.0L Duratorq TDCi engine produces 134hp.
The car is once again available in three different trim levels including the Trend, Sport and the range-topping Titanium level that features 17-inch alloy wheels and a partial leather seats. And yes Ford, we want one on the state side -just as bad as we want all the other Euro Ford models including the Mondeo even if it doesn’t make sense.

In addition to standard front and side airbags, Ford’s new Rollover Protection Device (RPD) system plays a vital role in increasing Focus Coupé-Cabriolet’s passive safety performance. RPD is designed to help protect passengers in the unlikely event that the vehicle rolls over. Electronic sensors and a gyroscope are at the heart of the system, and can detect an impending rollover. When this happens, two ultra-strong safety roll bars “fire” into position within a tenth of a second. Combined with the reinforced A-pillars and the highly rigid front window frame, RPD is a reassuring device that provides valuable extra protection for occupants.

Latest 2008 Ford Focus SES

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

It’s closely a year since Ford unveiled its totally redesigned 2008 Focus at the 2007 Detroit auto show, and for a company desperately in need of a successful vehicle particularly in the newly fashionable compact segment .Ford requirements its entry-level model to be a hit. The revamped Focus represents something of a drastic styling departure from its predecessors. Out go the hatchback and wagon body styles of the previous generation, replaced with a more bulbous and curvaceous European design reminiscent of a squished Ford Mondeo. It is on the inside, though, that the game really changes for the 2008 Focus, with the availability of another product that headlined in Detroit last year: Ford Sync. Designed by Microsoft, and exclusive to Ford Motor products, Sync represents a quantum leap forward for Ford (and the auto industry in general) in terms of controlling in-car media and communications. Our 2008 Ford Focus tester was the review car we have seen with Sync (it comes as standard equipment on the SES), and, after testing it to its breaking point, we can report that despite a few niggles, we’re impressed. Very impressed.

2008 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe Overview

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Carroll Shelby, legendary racer and tuner lends his name and expertise to the Ford Shelby GT500 version of the iconic Mustang. This powerful coupe packs a 500-horsepower 5.4-liter V8 under its bulging hood. A heavy-duty, six-speed manual gearbox is the only transmission offered. The standard Mustang’s brakes and suspension have been customized to handle the extra power, and various exterior and interior additions differentiate it from the rest of the Mustang line. Limited amenities make sure that all that muscle is available for a relatively reasonable price.
The Ford Shelby GT500KR is further dressed up with a carbon composite hood, exclusive wheels, and unique striping.

The standard Mustang’s retro-flavored interior has been dressed up with light-faced gauges on the instrument panel, and the positions of the speedometer and tachometer have been swapped to afford enthusiastic motorists a better view of the rpms to help with shifting. Chrome accents have been replaced with brushed aluminum, and Ford Shelby GT500 logos abound. The car’s front power leather seats have deeper side bolsters to help keep the driver and passenger firmly in place while cornering at high speeds.
